An amazing read, for the most part, with a slow-burning increasingly tense plot which leaves plenty of room for atmosphere. This man knows Morocco and the descriptions are incredible: the luxurious surroundings of the three-day party in some large old buildings in the middle of the desert, the feeling of threat from the materially poor local inhabitants following the accident. But, as with so many books, after immensely enjoying three quarters of the book, the ending disappointed me, seeming to suddenly fade out leaving me unsatisfied.
